SVEF's Pioneers & Purpose event tonight at 6PM PST

Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) will be spotlighting students and celebrating changemakers in STEM education at Pioneers & Purpose (P&P) on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.  SVEF’s signature event, P&P is an opportunity to bring together sponsors, advisors, and partners to celebrate the progress made in education over the past year.

SVEF will be honoring Larry Sonsini of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati as the 2012 Pioneer Business Leader for his significant contributions to business and philanthropy.  In addition, SVEF will be announcing the winners of the STEM Innovation Awards.  These awards honor innovators in STEM education and are open to both nonprofit and for-profit organizations across the country.  SVEF will award a cash prize of $5,000 for each of the four S-T-E-M categories.

The evening’s program will also include an appearance by comedian and youth activist Michael Pritchard as well as STEM Stumpers, a game show pitting students from SVEF’s programs against notable Silicon Valley CEO’s.

P&P is the Valley’s way of “pitching in” and marshaling the funds to give students a chance to realize their full potential and to provide teachers with the tools they so urgently need.  This year’s event has sold out and has raised over $1 million towards STEM education.  For more information, visit www.svef.com.
