STEM Results Profile of the Day - National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI)
Submitted by Tommy Cornelis on October 18, 2012

National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) is an agent of change, driving improvements in American student achievement in math and science. The National Math and Science Initiative mission is to bring best practices to public school classrooms by replicating on a national scale programs that have data showing they produce solid results. Educators value our comprehensive, evidence-based approach because it delivers dramatic and sustainable results and fundamentally changes educational culture.
NMSI focuses on three primary programs: the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program (APTIP); Laying the Foundation (LTF); and UTeach. The APTIP program, has trained more than 11,000 pre-AP and AP teachers from across the country in the last four years. LTF has trained more than 51,000 teachers across 18 states since its inception. The UTeach program has 5,500 teachers in its 2012 cohort, which spans across 34 universities in 16 states.
