STEM Results Profile of the Day – Washington STEM

Washington STEM’s vision is that all students in Washington—regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity—receive a robust and inspiring education that prepares them for success in the 21st century.  In March 2011 Washington STEM launched its first round of investments, totaling over $2.4 million dollars and serving over 8,500 students around the state.  A two-year planning and design phase preceded Washington STEM’s launch, during which over 500 Washington stakeholders—as well as national STEM education and industry leaders—were consulted in its strategy and design.

Washington STEM has developed a set of outcomes to define student success and has begun the process of identifying indicators to measure progress toward those outcomes.  In support of its theory of change they have developed initial drafts of interim outcomes for teachers and community engagement.  Future work will define interim outcomes for out-of-school experiences and business partnerships.
