Rules released for 2013 Team America Rocketry Challenge, registration opens September 4th

Madison West High School is just getting back from its 2nd place finish at the International Rocketry Contest at the Farnborough International Air Show, but they'll already have to start worrying about defending their Team America Rocketry Challenge crown as TARC has just announced the rules for the 2013 contest and registration opens on September 4, 2012. Next year's nationa finals will be held on May 11, 2013 at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. TARC is sponsored by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA).
Some of the highlights for the upcoming 2013 contest include:
- Target altitute of 750 feet
- Duration of flight should be between 48-50 seconds
- Payload is one raw egg placed horizontally
- Eternal diameter of rocket must be no less than 60 millimeters
- Recovery by a 15 inch diameter parachute
- Gross liftoff weight of no more than 650 grams
- Rocket motor size F, total impulse limit of 80 N-sec
