The STREAM™ app helps get students on the path to careers in STEM
Peoplebrite™ in partnership with STEMconnector™ announces the release of STREAM™, an iPhone app that addresses the challenge of getting students interested in acquiring STEM skills that are in highest demand by employers.
Dallas, Texas June 27, 2012- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education is key to the U.S.’s economic future. Peoplebrite™ in partnership with STEMconnector™ has released an app for students, parents, and teachers that will help students easily find out about STEM events in their vicinity using the iPhone, a tool that has become a part of our daily lives.
“STREAM™ is a fantastic and innovative app that will help students, parents and teachers learn more about STEM topics, participate in local STEM-related events, and help them develop STEM skills that help land high demand jobs,” commented Edie Fraser, STEMconnector™ CEO.
The STREAM™ app is free to users and STEM event coordinators and is supported and promoted through sponsorship with companies that rely on a strong STEM educated talent pipeline. STREAM™ is being formally launched today at the U.S. News STEM Solutions Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas June 27-29. Also during the Summit, STEMconnector™ will recognize its “100 Women Leaders in STEM” including one of the visionaries for the STREAM™ app, Tricia Berry, Director of both the Women in Engineering Program at The University of Texas at Austin and the Texas Girls Collaborative Project. Excited about STREAM, she remarked, “for those of us working on the front lines in STEM education or interested in engaging our own children in STEM opportunities, STREAM is a great way to promote or get connected to STEM events in our own communities.”
Key features include list and map views of nearby events; date, time and location of each event; RSVP and sign up options; “Learn More” and “Call” buttons to connect with additional event detail; and an easy way to share event information with friends.
The STREAM™ app is available for free download on iTunes for users; no registration is required. STEM event coordinators should contact STREAM™ at info@Peoplebrite.com to receive information on how to incorporate their events.
