The Society for Science and the Public (SSP) is a non-profit whose goal is to engage the public with scientific research and education in order to promote a wider appreciation for, and understanding of, the vital roles played by science in today's world. SSP sponsors an assortment of STEM education programs, including the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, the Intel Science Talent Search, and the SSP Fellowship Program. SSP has also collaborated with Broadcom to put on the Broadcom MASTERS, a STEM competition for 6th-8th graders. Students must demonstrate problem solving and STEM skills with an original project, displayed at their local SSP-affiliated science fair, where they may then be nominated to apply to the MASTERS in hopes of being selected at one of 300 semifinalists, or 30 finalists.
