The Pew Charitable Trusts, founded in 1948 by the family of Sunoco founder Joseph Pew, is a national non-profit which advocates for the public interest in the areas of state policy, economic policy, health and human services, and the environment. The different trusts which make up the organization each focus on specific areas of advocacy, partnering with public and private organizations and donors, as well as engaged citizens. Some of the Trusts' initiatives include the Genetics and Public Policy Center at Johns Hopkins University, The Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation, and the Project on Student Debt.
