The Kauffman foundation was founded in the 1960's to serve the Kansas City area's needs for advancing entrepreneurship, and ensuring quality education for local students. The Foundation partners with organizations like Project Lead the Way and the FIRST Robotics Competition to offer additional learning opportunities for youth to engage with STEM fields. Additionally, the Foundation provides opportunities for sophomores in high school to shadow health professionals in an effort to expose them to a variety of possible careers. The Foundation also funds Sports Bytes, an innovative curriculum program which integrates gaming and cell phone technology into science and math courses.
